Married Men

Song of a Married Man

This ring is heavy now.

Every morning it seems

It is gold, thick, warm.

At one time it was

very bright, even reflected the sun,

But now it is dull and

tarnished with the passing

of years.

When I wake up in

the morning and slip

it over my finger,

It seems heavier and

heavier each passing sunrise.

The earth's gravity

tugs, tugs and tugs, till

I fear one day it will

simply slip off."
